Beaut on the Beach

Another day, another travel special post. This time, for our ladies.
In case you’re wondering what to pack your suitcases with for a beach vacation, we’re here to help.

In the picture, Aishwarya is wearing a one-piece with a floral print. One of the most elusive qualities of a floral print is that it is very relaxing to look at, and is the epitome of comfortable wear. The prints mix in with the vacation aesthetic while also making you look the part.

Pair it with sneakers and some classy eye-wear, or jive it up with colorful headgear, like a headband or a scarf, or a fedora.
However, before you hit the sun, make sure to apply ample sunscreen and keep yourself hydrated.

Love,

TMJ

Sunday Special

Hello peeps,
In this post, we the misfits are going to clarify what the ‘Misfit’ in our Misfit journal stands for.
The idea behind starting this page was to connect to those people who think that they do not fit in the mainstream culture. Who do not like to be confined in one box and want to explore. Now through this post, we want to tell you that this ‘Misfit Journal’ is not just a blog about fashion but it is much more. Through our blog we wanted to convey a message that we should always listen to our heart even if the popular opinion is against it. Many times just because of others we lose our inner voices and start believing what have been told to us over and over again. This is the reason why we tend to not accept ourselves just the way we are. Taking for instance our Indian culture of keeping ‘Fairness’ as the ultimate standard for beauty. This so called ideal beauty is the main reason why many of us lack confidence because we are told that we are not good enough. Thus. we start to believe that there is something lacking in us. Because
of this reason we forget to love ourselves the way we are and try to become what the society wants us to.

Sharing my personal experience, I myself don’t possess that fair skin tone. Since
childhood I am facing this issue. My friends, family, relatives all of them really made it obvious that my skin tone is not a desired one. And it is not said directly, it comes hidden within the lines of “you should try this cream” or “try this multani mitti” and many such statements. I always tried different facewashes, beauty creams and whatnot. But now I don’t think about it. I have such people in my life who made me realize that even if I got fairer or darker my relationship with them wouldn’t change. it was hard for me to love myself just the way I am but I think I am doing pretty good.
I have a dark skin stone. Yes in most of my pictures it might not be that much evident, my arms and legs are dark as well. Since this day I think twice before wearing shorts in front of strangers. This is the reason why my Instagram account doesn’t have more pictures of me in shorts. Last week I posted one picture and there was a comment that read ‘pathetic legs’ since my legs are not fair.I didn’t do anything about it which made me feel guilty. Then one of my close friends (whom I have never met in real life) made it clear to me that I should take a stand. i am beautiful the way I am. I shouldn’t agree with other’s cheap notions of beauty. So this friend of mine replied to that comment and took a stand for me. So here I am writing this post to all those who need to hear this, no one can define beauty to you. We are all beautiful in our own unique way. I am blessed to have that friend who did not let me ignore that comment and I really hope you
guys too have such people In your life, but even if you don’t, then all you need to do is keep loving yourself for the way you are and not let others define you. And still if someone comments on your looks then always remember:
“What Susie says of Sally, says more about Susie then it does of Sally”

(wisdom shared by that close friend of mine)

Seaside Shenanigans

Hello misfits,
We hope you all are having a great time. Winter has bid goodbye to us, and has taken with it the warm and heavy clothes.
As there are no chilly winds to lock us inside our houses,
People are planning late night trips and weekend getaways with their friends and your fellow misfits did the same. We recently went to Diu island and have brought back with us style ideas and tips regarding what should one wear on summer vacations or on a beach trip.
First of all one should keep in mind that going on vacations in a season which is not winter, people must not take heavy clothes and do not need layering. Since I am going to talk about styling for the beach, you must remember the color of your clothes plays an important part in making you feel vacation ready.
If you are going to the beach, try to avoid any solid, formal shirts, rather go with cool colored t shirts with cool, light (or even neon) shades, specifically colors which are not dull.
In the picture, Fardeen is wearing a misty pink t shirt and nothing says beach wear more than white shorts which he decided to sport with the tee.

Its not necessary that you opt for white shorts only, any light color would do the trick.
The important point to remember is, you must feel relaxed in whatever you wear, after all you want to enjoy your vacations and feel free.
Pro Tip: Glasses and caps will always be your friend while going not only on vacations but for any outing.
